Monochrome reflection

For my project, I decided to take an oxymoronic approach. Initially, I planned to gather a bunch of leaves, piling them up within the frame to symbolize unity, from which a root or branch would emerge to signify growth. However, as I began filming and taking frames, I found myself captivated by experimenting with various props and textures. This led me to completely alter my initial idea.

Instead of sticking to my original plan, I created an animation filled with diverse movements and fun frames that came together like a journey. Once the animation was complete, I recorded some sound using the Zoom H2N recorder. I utilized the sounds available around me, including the wind during a walk, the crumbling of paper, the flipping of pages, and the pouring of water. These sounds added an extra layer of depth and immersion to the final piece.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the week-to-week sessions of watching different films and engaging in playful experimentation. This process pushed my creative boundaries and encouraged me to think outside the box. Moving forward, I am eager to explore various approaches to stop motion animation. For instance, I am interested in experimenting with different media, such as ink on paper or wood carvings.

This project has been an incredibly enriching experience, allowing me to discover new techniques and broaden my artistic horizons. The combination of visual experimentation and sound recording made the project dynamic and engaging, ultimately leading to a final product that was both unexpected and satisfying. I look forward to applying these new skills and concepts to future projects, continuing to explore the endless possibilities within the realm of stop motion animation.
